The shop's story
Since 1991, Stingray Divers has prided itself on serving the Northeast's diving community — sales, service, instruction and travel, all from the storefront at 762 Grand Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
The shop made its name on gas: by its own account it was the first — and remains one of the only — dive shops offering Nitrox, Trimix and Argon fills in New York City, back when technical diving meant driving cylinders far outside the five boroughs.
It's owned and operated by active divers, and the staff is trained to repair and maintain the equipment the shop sells — so the advice, the gear and the service all come from people who are actually in the water.
What the shop does
- Scuba classes — PADI instruction, first certification through continuing education.
- Equipment sales — dive gear sold by people who dive it.
- Service & repair — staff trained on the equipment they sell.
- Rentals — gear for classes, local dives and travel.
- Gas fills — air, Nitrox, Trimix and Argon, in the middle of NYC.
- Dive travel — group trips to Truk Lagoon, Cozumel, the Philippines and beyond.
